Once a well-known and long established sub-contractor in the Croydon area, these days Turner Precision Engineering carries out its business on the other side of the world. It is not just the company's range of engineering services and products that has ensured its success in Australia - it is also down to a continuing commitment to the use of PSL Datatrack's business administration and production control software systems. Being on the other side of the world has made absolutely no difference to the benefits that the company accrues from Datatrack, with the result that an upgrade to the full functionality of the system has now been implemented.
Turner Precision Engineering (Aus) Pty of Kunda Park, QLD4556, north of Brisbane, offers precision CNC milling and turning services together with high speed drilling and tapping to customers from many sectors including aerospace, automotive, marine and food manufacturing. A range of precision engineered products are also manufactured which include hydraulic cylinders and manifold fittings as well as the renowned Nibbler drill attachment for cutting sheet metal.
The company remains firmly committed not just to high quality precision engineering but also to high quality administration. According to owner Ken Turner “Our PSL Datatrack system ensures our deliveries match our promises and the traceability of materials and documentation gives our customers absolute peace of mind. PSL Datatrack works to ISO 9000 and AS9100 standards of certification.”
As long ago as 1991 Turners first installed a DOS version of PSL Datatrack at their premises in Addiscombe, near Croydon. By 1999 they had invested in Datatrack’s Windows system, which was the forerunner of today’s range of PSL Datatrack edition systems. Following installation, PSL provided comprehensive training so that when Ken decided to emigrate in 2003, his new company would still be able to benefit from using the system on the other side of the world.
There was a high level of confidence in the proven reliability of PSL Datatrack. Any doubts that PSL could provide the same levels of customer and technical support, from the other side of the world, have also been erased over the last seven years. So much so, that this year the company has invested in the latest version of PSL Datatrack software. This offers greater levels of functionality with modules that give the company even tighter control over all aspects of its engineering business. PSL Datatrack carried out the complex upgrade over the internet during the night whilst the factory was closed. When the doors were opened in the morning, it was ready to use.
All support and upgrades are now carried out remotely from PSL‘s offices in the UK. The same links also allow remote training so that Turners can keep up with the latest developments which means that the benefits of using PSL Datatrack will be available to Turners for the foreseeable future.
Ken Turner says: “The ease of support from the other side of the world and our satisfaction over many years with PSL Datatrack were the reasons why we brought the system with us from the UK. We continue to enjoy its powerful benefits whilst here.”
